Phubbing: the act of snubbing someone with your phone. I'm guilty of it, my friends are guilty of it and you probably are, too. The word was coined in 2012 by Australian advertiser to promote a new dictionary and has taken the world by storm. Since the word's conception a website and facebook page have been created in protest of the act. Is this emergent social phenomena something that needs to be nipped in the bud?
Guilty as charged: phubbing in action!
Is it ever okay to "phub"? I'm not sold on the anti-phubbing movement. I think phubbing has a time and a place, and as we become more connected with one another through technology we need to become more aware of our "textiquette" (texting etiquette... you don't need to be a phonetician to make up words).
